First award and reviews!

Hey all!

Well in incredible news for us, we recently picked up 2nd place at the Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards for Best International Rock! We had no idea that our music has spread so far over the ocean and then north some! We'll try to come out soon to the fair land of Canada to say thank you!

Also, here is the press review we got from a recent gig in Rhode Island.

The band was tight, professional, easy to deal with and above all one of the most original sounding bands I have heard in a decade!

A Dublin Ireland band that writes and plays songs with influences as if U2 where a brand new Band in 2008. Very melodic rock songs that everyone can appreciate and did. The crowd was totally into this Irish Band and new fans were captivated by Botham's very expressive delivery and the bands high quality musicianship!
I am looking forward to following Reliefs career and feel that they are on the brink of being the next band that re-writes rock and roll history!

It really makes you feel you are on track and all the hard work is starting to pay off in the right direction!

We'll keep you updated with any more developments in the Relief camp!

Peace

Rock The Ink

Relief have just returned from Rock The Ink!
What a day! We arrived in Rhode Island late Saturday night. Driving up from NYC was a blast! Driving up, it was evident that the only food available was fast food. McDonalds in America is abit different from home. Hard to explain, a different taste.

So we got to our hotel and had a late evening of wandering around. Aaron forgot his ID so we couldn't go anywhere really fun. It was a relatively early night for the big day ahead!

Sunday morning, the band arrived at the Dunkin Donut Area at 9am! After waiting for 2 hours, the crew for Rock The Ink eventually turned up. With our passes, we got to go anywhere in the arena. So first stop, main stage! WOWZERS! The size of the place. It was empty when we went in, so the awe of it was incredible. It's hard to explain the feeling of standing in a 15,000 person arena knowing you are going to be playing it that night. Awesome would describe it :)

The wait from 11am until 6pm went so fast. There is always to much to do, and when you are your own roadcrew, it's not so easy to take a break and relax! When the hour of the show dawned upon us, it was time to rock!

We had a decent crowd and a real excitement was coming off the crowd! We played a 7 song setlist in which we juggled some of our heavier numbers among our more upbeat tracks.
The setlist was:

Shy
Waiting Still
Falling
Sparks in the Sky
Home
Waves
Chagrin

For those who came and met us after the show, it was so great to meet all of you and we will try to get up to Rhode Island and Boston very soon!

A really exciting day that showed us alot of home truths and future directions!

Now with the return trip to Ireland, we have alot of gigs to play and alot of fun to have!

Check out more photos on our myspace and we'll see you all soon!

The next step is Rock The Ink in Providence, Rhode Island! We will be playing with the likes of Godsmack, Killswitch Engage and Brett Michaels!?! It is really gonna rock! We have been in heavy rehearsals over in NYC for the show with new material and tweaking the old!

Some videos have been uploaded onto our myspace page at www.myspace.com/relief so you can see us in action! There is even a welcome :)

We gotta run, more rehearsals but please keep the comments coming!

Arrival

Hey all!

Greetings from the Big Apple!

Relief are in New York and loving it! Tonight we are going to play our 1st of 2 gigs in the States. It's a privilege to have been invited over to play such venues! Already the music shops have been raided here! Their is nothing in Ireland like the guitar stores here. Guitar Center.... Just walls of heaven!!! Craig has already hit up the drum stores and has more sticks now than Taylor Hawkins!

So tonight is Ulysses! An Irish ring to it. It's a short set tonight but let's hope we can bring the rocking hard! Then it's into some rehearsals for the huge Rock the Ink festival on 26th Oct. We'll post photos of our adventures as they come in!

The city has such a great energy which is inspiring for songwriting! So as you can imagine, there are alot of new tunes in the pipeline!

So what is Relief listening to as we travel around you ask?!

Only By The Night - Kings Of Leon
Death Magnetic - Metallica
The Fabled City - Tom Morello
Rearviewmirror - Pearl Jam
Guided by Ghosts - Codes

Abit of a diverse selection but keeps everything rocking! Codes are a new Irish pop-rock synth band that are really making waves. Check them out at www.codes.ie

As the days go by, more and more people are joining www.relief.ie and it's just phenomenal! Keep spreading the word!

Until next time,

The dawn...

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This is the first post on the official Relief blog. Welcome!

The band are currently gearing up for a stint in the US where they have been invited to play some very high profiled events! This includes playing M.E.A.N.Y FEST in NYC on October 11th at Ulysses, Rock The Ink with Godsmack in Rhode Island on October 26th! As an amateur band, this is alot of fun!

For all those who have supported us as we get our feet of the ground into the realms of music, we thank you. Without you guys, we would still be in a garage banging away on some bins and lids!

The free E.P is doing great! If you've not got your copy, head over to www.relief.ie and log up to get it. Free is always good! We have had many, many requests for physical E.Ps. The stocks are low but i assure you, we will do all we can to get one to you! Just send your name and address to us and we'll post it out!

The band headline The Village this Friday ( October 3rd ) and it will be the last before the US tour. We hope to see you down there! We promise it'll be a good one!

To wrap up and let you get on with whatever you were doing, the first single ''Waves'' will be released in January and you can hear a snippet of it at www.myspace.com/relief

Keep posted and keep intouch!

Spread the love
